Multifunctional gateways
RM Michaelides provides a wide range of gateways which allow connecting CAN networks to PCs, laptops, and PDAs. These wire-bound gateways are often used for diagnostic purposes and serve to transfer CAN data e.g. via RS-232, USB, or Ethernet.
CANview
CANview® is used for connecting devices with a serial RS-232 interface to CAN networks. The transmission between CAN and RS-232 takes place bi-directionally. Combined with a PC, CANview® can also operate as a data logger or CAN monitor and autonomously perform control functions. In the sensor mode, the device can be used to connect a sensor with RS-232 interface to a CAN network. The integrated A/D converter for static measurement of the supply voltage and CAN signals provides additional monitoring and diagnosis functions.
CANview USB
Through its USB interface, CANview® USB enables fast data exchange with a PC. The connection to the device is established over a virtual serial COM port. The port acts like a conventional RS-232 interface, but supports the high speeds of the USB interface. For this reason, CANview® USB can easily be exchanged with the CAN/RS-232 converter CANview®.
CANview Ethernet
CANview® Ethernet is equipped with a 10/100M Base-T Ethernet interface for rapid data transfer. CAN data can be losslessly transmitted with a bit-rate of 1 Mbit/s and a high bus load via Ethernet. It is also possible to link two remote CAN networks via Ethernet. Communication over the internet is possible by means of suitable gateways/routers. Customizable filters can be used to limit the number of messages to be transmitted. On the Ethernet side, the device can communicate via TCP or UDP. A multiple socket server enables several TCP clients to communicate concurrently with CANview® Ethernet.
CANview Gateway
CANview® Gateway 2001 and 2101 enable smooth exchange of data between different CAN networks. Thanks to their two CAN interfaces, the devices connect CAN networks which use different bit-rates and protocols. In addition, it is possible to manipulate the CAN identifiers, i.e. to interchange them between the networks. CANview® Gateway 2101 also provides a USB interface, thus allowing for extremely fast data exchange between a CAN network and a PC. A virtual serial COM port establishes the connection to the device. The port acts like a conventional RS-232 interface, but supports the high speeds of the USB interface.
