Gateway without limits
Communication technologies in factory automation are currently faced by a change from traditional field-bus towards real-time-Ethernet based systems. An extension of field-bus installations or an integration of devices without Ethernet interface requires a transition from one system to another. The best solution for data exchange is the usage of gateways, which provide an interface to both worlds.
But already the most important field-bus system protocols are ten different protocols in total.
And the different Master- and Slave functionality will create up to 400 possible combinations. With consideration of simple serial protocols via EIA-232- (RS-232)-, EIA-422- (RS-422)- or EIA-485 (RS-485) interfaces you will easily reach more than 1 000 different gateways or protocol conversions respectively. This huge device diversity can only be realized economically either in a customer specific solution or in a modular way.
The netTAP fully uses the flexible characteristics of the network controller netX and provides a low-cost and easy solution for the different protocol conversions.
The different interfaces will be combined modularly in a compact housing for DIN-rail mounting, the associated firmware will be loaded via USB interface and the configuration will be done via drag and drop in a universal Windows tool.
Several LEDs offer a fast and easy diagnostic functionality; for an easy maintenance or exchange of the device in the field installation the software and configuration can be stored and restored to/from a MMC- and SD-card.
