MVRES-CO-X displacement and speed sensor

The MVRES-CO-V2 module measures angular displacement and speed over 360 degrees. In addition it tracks the position as whole revolutions. Good accuracy, short measurement delay and angular speed counted inside the module are all useful features in accurate servo and robotic systems. Especially if the control loop is established over CAN network.

The measurement data (angular position, angular speed, position as whole revolutions) is available on the CAN bus, which utilizes the CANopen protocol. Module implements the standards CIA 301 V 4.1 (communication profile) and CiA 406 V 3.01 (encoder profile). The module node-ID can be changed through the CAN interface with the LSS protocol or with two SDO writes.

The user can set up for instance the following features using through the CAN interface:

  • Angular resolution (max. 22 bits)
  • Angular offset
  • Polarity of the resolver (turning direction)

Power supply for the module can be in the range of 9 V to 35 V. The module is protected against reverse battery connection, overvoltage, and load-dump situations.

The resolver control module is designed for harsh environments and is mounted in an IP65-protected case. This and wide temperature range makes it suitable for mobile off-road applications. The standard module contains two M12 connectors allowing thus using a chained node bus topology.
