UDE Debugger tool with UAD2 hand-held
The Universal Debug Engine (UDE), the flexible Debug Platform, supports the microcontroller families C166, ST10, XC166, XC2000, TriCore, PowerPC MPC and PPC, ARM, Cortex, XScale and offers a powerful HLL debugger with CAN high-speed communication paths to the customers hardware target system. As communication device the new Universal Access Device 2 (UAD2) with CAN support is provided.
UAD2 is a very smart and compact solution for the access to microcontroller target systems. UAD2 offers the high-speed interface USB 2.0 with 480 MBit/sec to the host PC combined with the flexible CAN communication path to the target system. The continuous trace of CAN bus messages as background task even the device is used for target communication is enabled by the independent intelligent UAD2 subsystem. The combination of JTAG and CAN network capabilities in a small single device is unique.
The following advantages are thereby achieved:
- CAN communication channel may be used simultaneously for application and debugging
- No additional hardware for on-site software testing is necessary because of the C16x/ST10, XC16x, TC176x or ARM CAN derivatives on-chip CAN modules
- CAN bootstrap loader makes the debugging of ROM-less debug target systems faster (for ST10, XC166, XC2000, TriCore and further derivatives available)
The special CAN network Target Monitor features are available for comfortable and fast debugging:
- User specific CAN network monitors can be configured by the Portable Monitor package
- Standard and Extended Identifiers are supported
- Recording and Sending of CAN network messages from/to applications
- Flash programming via CAN network (internal FLASH and external FLASH ROMs AMD 29Fx)
- ROM-less CAN debug monitors are possible (CAN bootstrap loader)
The UDE demo version is available.
