The CAN I/O-module provides input and output operations in a CAN environment. It supports the CiA 401 (Device profile for generic I/O modules).

It is equipped with eight digital inputs. Each of them may be configured for pnp- or npn sensors. Three of the inputs may force interrupts for low reaction time.

The CAN I/O-module provides eight digital outputs. Five outputs are PWM capable.

Installation or update of the firmware is possible via CAN interface. The CAN inerface is also used for data transmission between the components of an application.

The module may either be sealed completely in a half-shell housing or may be mounted in a die cast metal housing.
