The CAN 400 module from Systeme Helmholz GmbH for use in a S7-400 from Siemens, allows you to connect CAN stations with a programmable controller. The module can be delivered with 1 or 2 CAN lines.
Data is exchanged with the CPU via the backplane bus. The data handling blocks, which make handling CAN communication simple, are supplied with the source code for layer 2, CANopen Master and CANopen Slave communication. The scope of supply includes a Windows parameterization tool "CANparam" to simplify setting the CAN communication parameters.
The CAN 400 module supports 11-bit CAN-IDs and 29-bit CAN-IDs frames with a freely selectable bit-rate of 10 kbit/s to 1 Mbit/s, or freely editable bit timing.
The CAN 300 module contains the power management functions "Power On", "Stop -> Run" and "Run-> Stop". Using acceptance mask or node-filter, it is possible to prefilter the IDs relevant to the programmable controller.
15 freely settable timers are available in the CAN 400module. Each can trigger a programmable CAN frame. In that way it is easy to implement the synchronous protocols common in drive and servo controls through the CAN 400 module.
