Modular Diagnostic Tool

Availability
In stock

The M.D.T. is an innovative authoring software for the simple creation of complex diagnostic applications in the automotive sector. The system provides an intuitive GUI interface between a service technician and the complex ECU network within a vehicle. The innovative technologies like the ODX standard, XML and JAVA based applets enable and guarantee a fast visualisation of vehicle parameters even during the development process of new vehicles.

The modular concept using international communication protocol standards like SAE J2534, SAE J1939, ISO15765 (KWP2000 on CAN), RAW-CAN, CANopen or customer specific and proprietary protocols in the M.D.T. enables a perfect adaptation and a high flexibility at new applications. The authoring tool disposes a number of ready-to-use visual elements like meter, progress bars, LEDs, graph etc. to create the GUI. The user just has to drag & drop the indicators, so no special knowledge of the ECU or fieldbus is needed. The user data are provided with the ODX services, which can be configured directly within the authoring tool. The diagnostic workflow can be configured by using standard flow-chart elements. So there is no need of real coding – you can just configure the complete diagnostic application!

Essential basic is the abstraction of the used ECUs in the development. Measurement sizes are getting accessible without any detailed knowledge of the bus topology or the ECU is remised. During the development a diagnostic application is configured with the authoring tool, which provides the basis. Via this easy accessible information pool and the basic application a structured diagnostic application can be created without detailed programming knowledge. By using a graphical programming the experiences of service technicians can be integrated into the diagnostic application to analyse and remove problems faster. This programming is very close to error trees and flow-charts.

In addition to the M.D.T. authoring tool and the ODX-Editor, the Sontheim Industrie Elektronik GmbH is providing a complete tool-chain including EOL (End-of-Line) flash tools and CAN network analysing software combined with high-performance hardware interfaces to access the CAN network.
