CiA Board of Director (BoD) statement on the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) software

The CAN in AUTOMATION international users’ and manufacturers’ group e. V. (CiA) is committed to respect German and European regulations on data processing, especially to protect rights on privacy and on intellectual property. Additionally, CiA protects the copyright of jointly developed and released CiA technical documents as well as the copyright of CiA publications.

  1. CiA meetings and meeting minutes
    CiA meetings include the CiA general assembly as well as those of the BoD, the CiA Technical Committee (TC), the CiA Business Committee (BC), interest groups (IG), special interest groups (SIG), marketing groups (MG), and task forces (TF). They shall not be recorded by means of video or audio. CiA does not use artificial intelligence (AI) software to generate or improve meeting minutes, which does not comply with the EU regulation 2016/679 also known as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  2. CiA technical documents
    CiA technical documents include CiA specifications and CiA technical reports (e.g., application notes, guidelines, and recommendations). CiA does not use artificial intelligence (AI) software to generate or improve CiA technical documents, which uses the content of CiA technical documents to train AI software.
  3. CiA publications
    CiA publications include the CAN Newsletter and the CAN Community News (CCN). CiA does not use artificial intelligence (AI) software to generate or improve CiA publications, which uses the content of CiA publications to train AI software.
