A word from the CiA Managing Director

(Source: Adobe Stock)

On 24 February 2022, Russia has attacked Ukraine with armed forces. The CiA Board of Directors (BoD) condemns this international law-disgusting war. CiA regrets every victim on both sides of this war. Our thoughts and our sympathy are with them and their families.

CiA supports the United Nations General Assembly Resolution ES-11/1 adopted on 2 March 2022, which deplored Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and demanded a full withdrawal of Russian forces and reversal of its decision to recognize the self-declared People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. The paragraph 10 of this resolution confirmed the involvement of Belarus in unlawful use of force against Ukraine. The resolution was sponsored by 96 countries, and passed with 141 voting in favor, 5 against, and 35 abstentions.

On 15 March 2022, the European Union decided to impose a fourth package of economic and individual sanctions in response to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. CiA has cancelled its planned online events in Russian language. Additionally, CiA has stopped answering technical inquiries from the Russian CAN community.

I do not like to lose many more words, I just want to quote Mahatma Gandhi: “There are no roads to peace, peace is the way”.

The CiA 601-4 specification will be part of the next edition of ISO 11898-2, which is currently under revision. It is planned to integrate it into a normative annex together with the CiA 610-3 CAN SIC XL specification.
