A word from the CiA Managing Director

Three quarters of this year are already done. Just three months are remaining and there is still a lot on the to-do list: Organizing the stands on Interlift, Itap, SPS, and Conexpo; preparing the iCC 2020 conference, editing CiA specifications, etc.

The most challenging task is the development of the CAN XL documents. Besides the data link layer and physical layer specifications, the associated Special Interest Group (SIG) plans also documents on higher-layer functions such as the protocol type, network layer, and protocol headers (CiA 611-1) and the time-synchronization requirements (CiA 611-5) plus the related conformance test plans.

Another important duty is the review and update of CiA profile specifications. With the limited resources of the CiA office this can be done just step-by-step. To do this in the order of importance, I ask you to fill in the profile implementation questionnaire. The most implemented profiles will be reviewed and updated first. This list of profiles just contains those, which are managed by the CiA IG (Interest Group) profiles. Profiles maintained by Special Interest Groups (SIG) are reviewed and updated regularly.

iCC 2020 program is online

The iCC program committee has evaluated the submitted abstracts and has formed the two-day conference program. Of course, the program is subject to be changed. “I am surprised on the high-quality of abstracts,” said Holger Zeltwanger, chairperson of the program committee. The event is sponsored by Emotas, Gemac, Peak System, and Vector.
