In November (26 to 28), CiA exhibits for the 27th time at SPS tradeshow in Nuremberg (Germany). Main focus is on the migration from classic CANopen to CANopen FD.

CiA is looking forward to welcome you in hall 2, stand 2149 at the Interlift 2019 in Augsburg, Germany. Member companies are presenting CANopen lift devices on there.
MSV exhibition in Brno
At the MSV exhibition in Brno (CZ) on October 08 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, CiA informs in a presentation about the future of CAN-based networking.
CiA 406 corrected
The detected minor errors in CiA 406 version 4.1.0 (CANopen encoder profile) regarding PDO mapping parameters have been corrected. The corrected Draft Standard Proposal (DSP) document is available for members only.
CAN technology day in Tokyo
CiA organizes jointly with Jaspar (Japan) the CAN technology day in Tokyo (Japan). It will take place on October 28, 2019. The one-day event provides information about CAN technology trends and standardization activities.
SIG generic I/O modules
The CiA 401 profile is under review. It will be split into a part specifying the process data as well as the configuration parameters and parts standardizing the mapping to CANopen and to CANopen FD. More details: secretary(at)can-cia.org.

IG profiles starts review process
The IG profiles manages several CiA profile specifications. Some of them need to be reviewed, because there are pending comments. The review process will start soon.
The problems are solved, not by giving new information, but by arranging what we have known since long.
CiA community
The CAN community is huge. More than two billion of CAN nodes are installed annually. And this figure is still growing. The number of CAN fellows organized in the nonprofit CiA users’ and manufacturers’ group is much smaller. Due to new CAN data link layer (CAN XL and CAN FD Light) and new CAN physical medium attachment developments (CAN SIC and CAN SIC XL), the membership is growing, too. There are also new members interested in CiA profile developed for new markets such as battery management, fire-fighting equipment, etc.
“We take the already existing ideas in communication technology as well as in human communication, arrange them newly, and new specifications and recommendations are born,” said Holger Zeltwanger, CiA Managing Director.
