IEC has released a new edition for EMC evaluation of CAN transceivers. It specifies test for ICs compliant with ISO 11898-2:2016. This includes also CAN FD transceivers.
J1939DA digital annex
SAE has released an updated version of the J1939DA digital annex containing most of the Parameter Group (PG) and Suspect Parameter (SP) specifications.
The CiA General Assembly will not take place on March 16. It has been postponed, but no new date has been scheduled yet.
CiA technology days in Spain
CiA has cancelled the face-to-face CiA technology days in Spain. CiA considers providing online presentations in May with the same content.
CiA technology days in Spain
CiA has scheduled two one-day events updating participants on CAN technology including CAN FD and CANopen FD. They take place in Barcelona (May 13) and Madrid (May 14).
CiA 402 and CANopen FD

Three papers on Embedded World
CiA presents three papers on the Embedded World conference O. Kaplun (Condition Monitoring and Embedding CANopen in IoT), Y. Yao (CANopen FD Devices Identification via New LSS), and R. Zitzmann (Migration from Classical CAN to CAN FD).
The problems are solved, not by giving new information, but by arranging what we have known since long.
CiA community
The CAN community is huge. Close to two billion of CAN nodes are installed annually. And this is still growing. Compared with these figures, the number of CAN fellows organized in the nonprofit CiA users’ and manufacturers’ group is very small. Several have left the CiA community in the last years. Some of them are coming back due to the CAN FD development. And there are many things still to do.
We take the already existing ideas in communication technology as well as in human communication, arrange them newly, and new specifications and products are born.
The problems are solved, not by giving new information, but by arranging what we have known since long.
